Letter from your President:
On Friday, February 24th we had a very
good turn out. Twenty attendees in all. Being that we were going to
have election of officers, I expected a little more. But all in all it
was good. This was my last official meeting until the Spring
Conference.
Your new officers will take over in April during
the conference. Your board members will remain about the same. I
believe your new President will call for a meeting in June. Time and
place, will be decided after the conference. I believe it is your
responsibility to contact Pete and help him decide what would be best
for the organization. Ray Sartin from Las Cruces has accepted the
position of board member and join you in your efforts. I will become
Board Director. Dave Clarke will now be a board member and continue to
maintain the web page. Jerry Huckaby from Silver City will be retiring
in March.
The Spring Conference is coming right along. We
are not breaking any records but it is coming along. The class
schedules and golf tournament are finalized. The breaks, hospitality,
lunch and dinner are still being negotiated. These should be finished
by March 15th. We are expecting about 200 attendees. The
sponsorships have been kind of slow. I am waiting on the Northern
Chapter’s report, to see how they are doing up there. Early
registrations have been moved up to the 15th of March.
Support your organization and register early.
It has been a great five years as
Secretary/Treasurer and then President of this organization. The cherry
on top of the ice cream was when we won the ICC Chapter Merit Award. A
lot of work went into this effort, with the help from David Clarke and
support of many others we accomplished and gained a lot of recognition.
I ask each and every one of you to work with Pete and help him continue
the good work we have started. Last year, with the help of the Fire
Marshals Association we had our first conference, which was very
successful This year we will have the second of hopefully many more
also with the help of the Northern Chapter.
A reminder that dues time is around the corner.
You will be getting your notice from Frank Torres, your new
Secretary/Treasurer from Las Cruces.
My sincere thanks go to every one of you that have
helped me make this a successful organization.
